Updates to Parcel Thefts at 30 and 35 Charles Street

Dear University Family Housing residents of 30 and 35 Charles Street,

It has come to our attention that over the past few weeks several parcels and deliveries dropped off at our residents’ unit doorways have been stolen.

We have been informed by some of our residents that parcels have been stolen from their doorways and the empty boxes have been found left in the stairwells. We have been working closely with our security team as well as Campus Safety (formerly known as Campus Police) to address this problem. Security has been put on alert to watch for people entering the building without using their FOB’s and will be requesting verification of identity for all delivery personnel who enter the buildings.

Campus Safety has been investigating this matter and have identified several suspects through security camera footage. Security have been notified. We have also increased the frequency of our onsite security patrols, specifically in stairwells, and have Campus Safety available on short notice.

University Family Housing is taking this matter extremely seriously and we will provide updates as they are made available to us. In order to minimize theft, we’ve been advised to suggest that when arranging online deliveries to use a ‘ship to store’ option when you expect to not be at home for lengthy periods of time. For more alternative delivery options, please refer to Canada Post’s website on the matter.

If you notice any suspicious behavior, we encourage you to reach out to security at 416-729-1592 or contact Campus Safety at 416-978-2222.
