Weekly updates for Student Family Housing residents:

Residence Office and Admissions.

This a friendly reminder that the office is closed during the pandemic to reduce health risks to residents and staff. We are still here to help, but for the health and safety of all, please do not come to our offices unless instructed to do so by a staff member. For assistance please call the Residence Office on 416-978-8304 or charles.street@utoronto.ca.

For eligibility concerns or lease information please contact the Admissions at 416-978-8049 or apply.familyhousing@utoronto.ca.

If you need to deliver cheques, forms and notices please use the secure drop box outside of the Residence Office – suite 102. If you are not sure please call or email ahead of time. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this health emergency and stay safe.

Security. Our Security staff continue to be available 24/7 via phone at 416-729-1592. If your security concern requires any type of follow up, please leave the guard a phone number to contact you, to avoid face-to-face interactions where possible.

Residence Reminders and Updates

Lockdown in Toronto. As of Monday, November 23rd, the City of Toronto will be entering the grey zone or lockdown within Ontario’s COVID-19 framework. Please review the restrictions via https://www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/.

Rooftop Garden Closed for the Season. The roof garden at 30 Charles is now closed for the winter months. Given the current desire for spaces for outdoor leisure, we extended the garden season by a month. However, as the area is unsafe during winter weather, it must be closed as the seasons are changing. In the spring, we’ll monitor the end of the snowy season to determine when it will be safe to open again for resident use.  In the meantime, our playground and podium deck areas remain available for families to use while observing social distancing guidelines.

Illegal Appliances. A correspondence was sent to all residents earlier this week regarding use of illegal appliances in the building. A number of residents followed up to identify plumbing issues; these messages will be responded to in the coming days, as the management team follows up with all possible offending units.

If you suspect a unit on your plumbing line is using an illegal appliance, please contact maintenance directly, and email sfh.reslife@utoronto.ca so the management team can reach out to the units surrounding yours to find the source of the issue.

Rent schedule. In order to make this easier to follow and avoid having to pay an extra month’s rent, please use this chart as a guide:
Submit by November 30th to move out on January 31st
Submit by December 31st to move out on February 28th
Submit by January 31st to move out on March 31st
