Weekly updates for Student Family Housing residents:

Residence Office and Admissions.

This a friendly reminder that the office is closed during the pandemic to reduce health risks to residents and staff. We are still here to help, but for the health and safety of all, please do not come to our offices unless instructed to do so by a staff member. For assistance please call the Residence Office on 416-978-8304 or charles.street@utoronto.ca.

For eligibility concerns or lease information please contact the Admissions at 416-978-8049 or apply.familyhousing@utoronto.ca.

If you need to deliver cheques, forms and notices please use the secure drop box outside of the Residence Office – suite 102. If you are not sure please call or email ahead of time. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this health emergency and stay safe.

Security. Our Security staff continue to be available 24/7 via phone at 416-729-1592. If your security concern requires any type of follow up, please leave the guard a phone number to contact you, to avoid face-to-face interactions where possible.

Residence Reminders and Updates

Rent Freeze for 2021. Please be advised that the Government of Ontario recently passed legislation to freeze rent at 2020 levels for 2021. This legislation applies to current student families living in 30 and 35 Charles St W. For more information visit the rent payment section of our website.

Apartment Noise during Lockdown. Winter is here, and so is the Toronto lockdown, including schooling from home. We are all indoors!

The buildings, like last year when the pandemic first began, are noisier than normal. Many student families have young children stuck inside all day for virtual school. This includes lunch and recess breaks too short to get outside, gym class, music, etc. It will not be possible for adults to expect quiet during the daytime right now. If you are not at home with children, imagine how hard it is for students to manage their children’s home schooling *and* work on their studies and jobs!

If you have online classes, meetings and calls, consider purchasing noise cancelling ear buds or headphones. If you have questions about any of this, please contact sfh.reslife@utoronto.ca or talk to your RA.

Christmas Trees. We ask that when residents of both buildings dispose of any real Christmas trees, they take them to the 35 Charles bulk pickup enclosure, on the south side of the building near St. Mary’s Street.

Wearing Masks and Social DistancingAs the pandemic continues, residents are reminded that masks are required in all public areas of our buildings – this includes hallways, elevators, lobbies, offices and laundry rooms. Residents are also asked to social distance whenever possible.  Elevator limits are still two people per car, or larger families.

Rent schedule. In order to make this easier to follow and avoid having to pay an extra month’s rent, please use this chart as a guide:
Submit by January 31st to move out on March 31st
Submit by February 28th to move out on April 30th
Submit by March 31st to move out on May 31st
