Yes: it's free! The FreeStore is our very own reuse initiative.

Residents drop-off items that are gently-used or pre-loved, donations are then sorted by Community & Recreation and put on display in the FreeStore and lastly, when open, residents come and pick out what they would like for free. All residents are welcome to shop and/or donate. Each day, the equivalent of 5-10 garbage bags are diverted from landfill!

The FreeStore was started by residents long ago. In the nineties, the Tenant's Association got involved to attract and organize a volunteer team to manage the incredible and constant flow of donated items. In 2004, the Tenant's Association requested that the popular service be taken over formally by Community & Recreation. Community & Recreation gladly accepted and began learning all of the ins and outs of the operation. Since Spring 2005, Community & Recreation staff and volunteers have run the service and it has remained ever popular.
